Power press Power presses are metalworking machines used primarily to cut, punch, or form metal using tooling (dies) attached to the slide (ram) and bed. The slide has a controlled reciprocating motion toward and away from the bed surface and at right angles to it. It is guided in the frame of the machine — either a “C” frame. There are common hazards associated with the use of machine shop equipment and tools. The Machine Shop Safety program provides guidance on the use of personal protective equipment, machine guarding, and recommended safety policies.

The FDIC provides a wealth of resources for consumers, bankers, analysts, and other stakeholders. These regulations are codified in two separate titles of the CFR: 2 CFR parts 7xx, and 22 CFR parts 2xx. (Find background information on the CFR in Regulations – basic background.).

The B standard for mechanical power presses and the B for grinding equipment have corresponding OSHA regulations, but the rest of the machinery, from power press brakes (B) to tube bending (B) to lasers (B), fall under OSHA’s general requirements, , which states that the employer must provide safeguarding to. Power Press Regulations Introduction. Persons operating or using a Power Press as part of their employment are required to be trained in the safe use of the equipment as laid down in the Power Press Regulations - part of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations.
